GenAI Powered Content Compliance for UK Government Websites

The Problem
The UK Government faced challenges in ensuring that content across its GOV.UK websites was accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with content design standards. Manual checks were time-consuming and prone to human error, leading to potential misinformation and inefficiencies in content management across the vast estate of over 700,000 pages.
The Solution
Using the Great Wave AI Platform, a GenAI-powered system was developed to automate the scanning and evaluation of web pages and PDFs against specific criteria. The system processes URLs, assessing each page for accuracy, expired information, adherence to content design standards, and conflicting or duplicate guidance.
The output is a detailed report for each URL, highlighting scores and categories for compliance.
The Impact
Efficiency Gains
- The automation of content scanning significantly reduced the time required for manual checks
- Allowing content designers and policy officials to spend more time addressing the semantic problems in regulatory content that were identified using Great Wave AI’s LLM platform.
Improved Accuracy
- By leveraging GenAI, the system ensures that content is consistently accurate and up-to-date, reducing the risk of misinformation
Compliance Assurance
- The system’s adherence to content design standards and detection of conflicting guidance ensures that all content meets the required quality and consistency standards.
Scalability
- The solution can handle large volumes of URLs, making it scalable for future expansions and updates across government websites.
“Our Collaboration with Great Wave AI was a highly positive experience for my team in the Department for Business and Trade.
First, the platform they provided allowed us to skip a lengthy build phase, allowing our content designers and policy officials to experiment with LLM agents in secure and explorative ways. Their platform was quick to onboard to, and provided the product features needed for us to our hypotheses.
Second, the Great Wave AI team were front-footed and productive in getting our project established and into the substance of our experimentation. We were able to produce early results within three weeks.
We enjoyed working with the Great Wave AI team members, and they clearly cared about understanding our use case and needs. It was valuable to have the technical team available at short notice for requests. It was an added bonus to have collaborated with a British AI SME, who have deployed their platform in both policy and operational contexts.”
